The Cry for Solace (Saxophone Concerto No. 1) was commissioned by saxophonist Jennifer Grantham in 2003. It has since been performed in various venues in the United States, including the Peabody Conservatory, the University of Michigan, (James McCain, saxophone), and Music04 New Music Festival, (Grantham, saxophone).
